The Spindingetjie is made from 3mm MDF with a bamboo finish and lightly sealed with a water based varnish.
This tool seems like it can’t be that useful… Until you start using it. There are so many things you can do with this one little unassuming shape specially designed for hand spinners!
It’s useful to wrap your working fiber through to hold the twist in place and “park” your work without detaching the roving or rolag that is still being spun up. You can use it while plying to feed your singles through the notches to maintain even tension and remove little twist-tails if they sprung into the bobbin. You can even use it to pinch sample singles or plied yarns through the notches, so you can hang it on your tension knob to check against as you spin – ensuring a more even yarn that is close to what you would want right through! Can you think of a use we haven’t tried yet?
The approximate measurements are length 15cm and the width 7cm.
